Market Update: Navigating Recent Volatility
Posted on March 23, 2026
The Florida Trust Wealth Management portfolio managers and investment analysts want to take a moment to address the recent market volatility and provide perspective on the developments currently influencing global financial markets.
Since the Iranian conflict began on February 28th, markets have been reacting to a combination of geopolitical and economic concerns. The substantive increase in energy prices, because of the hostilities, has raised renewed concerns about global inflationary pressures and the potential for slowing economic growth. The latest Producer Price Index (PPI) data released on March 18th only heightened those inflationary concerns. Investors are reassessing expectations for interest rates, monetary policy, and the trajectory of economic growth in the United States and beyond. Moreover, the duration of this operation remains highly uncertain. The longer this conflict persists, the more likely we experience longer-term economic impacts.
Despite the recent volatility, we have been pleasantly surprised with how resilient capital markets have been to this point. However, we also understand this can change quickly and we will continue to monitor developments closely. While these developments can be understandably unsettling, it is important to recognize that periods of volatility are a normal part of investing, especially during times when multiple uncertainties converge. Markets are continuously adjusting to new information, and short-term reactions are often heightened, skewed, and indiscriminate.
At Florida Trust, we believe well-constructed portfolios are designed with unpredictable events in mind. Our investment approach remains grounded in discipline, diversification, and with a long-term perspective. We believe that maintaining patience and avoiding reactive decisions is critical to preserving and growing wealth over time.
